Intimacy with God (1)

Scripture: Acts 19:18-20

Thought: Praying for "revival" is great. But "revival" comes when there is repentance.

I've been praying for revival in my own life, in the Church, the Nation, and in the World. SO COOL that the very first day of starting something new (going in a new/different direction), I read the verses above in Acts 19. Revival comes when you repent...when instead of just praying that your devotional life gets better, you do something different to make it better...REALLY COOL!!!

Ephesians 4 - May I throw off everything that is sinful in my life and instead have a spiritual renewal of my thoughts and attitudes. I am a new creation in CHRIST, created in His likeness --- righteous and holy.

Isaiah 14:1 - "The Lord will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Aliens will join them and unite with the house of Jacob." Thank you, Lord, for second chances (and 3rd, and 4th, and 5th). I am so thankful that our God is a "Once Again" kind of God!

Ephesians 6:12-13 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities (rulers) against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

If my people, which are called by name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear, from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14

seek ( pursue a relationship)
It seems that there are several actions required to be 'healed'.

This bible quote has always been one of my favorites. It is one I have also seen many times as it is on a roadside billboard in the Mojave Desert in California. I will be driving past it today on the way to Kernville, CA.

Ephesians 5:1-2, 8-10
We are called to imitate Jesus. Because of His great love for us He gave Himself up for us. We are light in the Lord and He calls us to live in the light. As believers we need to radically confess and repent, and wage war on anything that is killing our souls. Bring it to the light and trust God. This is where with the help of the Holy Spirit I am striving to be and I so desire to be pleasing to my Father! Deirdre Drew

"You have taught me ever since I was young, and I still tell of your wonderful acts....Be with me while I proclaim your power and might to all generations to come" Psalm 71:17-18. Our daily prayer for our Disciples class - what a powerful reminder to us to share the Word!

For he is the living God
and he endures forever;
his kingdom will not be destroyed,
his dominion will never end.
He rescues and he saves;
he performs signs and wonders
in the heavens and on the earth.
He has rescued Daniel
from the power of the lions."

Asking the Lord for revival in my witnessing and remembering John 15:7-8 "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourself to be my desciples." Thanking our Father for the gift of salvation and asking the Holy Spirit to guide us in sharing the message.

I was in SAMs over a year ago and picked up a devotional book I thought looked good, came home, put it on the shelf and kind of forgot about it. I decided this morning my new commitment to God for a daily quiet time would be the perfect time to start it. Pulled it off the shelf this morning and guess what the title is? Experiencing Spiritual Intimacy! Is our God awesome or what? Today He reminded me in Jeremiah 24 that even though He is big and my mind can't even conceive all of his vast wonders, He gave me a heart to know Him and we are His people and He is OUR God. How amazing is that? That little me can know Him personally. Wow - I am overwhelmed.

Luke 4:4-7
Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

" I am woman. I am invincible. I am tired." We/I often feel incapable of managing the many hats that we wear and the various responsibilities that we carry. We are overwhelmed by how much we "have" to do and how little time we "have" to do it. John 17:4 "I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do." The frustration comes when we attempt to take on responsibilities that are not on His agenda for us. The Truth is all I have to do is the work God assigns to me. It is freedom to accept that there is time for me to do everything that is on God's "to-do" list for my day, for my week and for my life! Psalm 90:10-12; Luke 10:38-42; Acts 20:24; Ephesians 2:10

This is the day that the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24

Stair stepping from level to level is a life incremental improvement (safe, comfortable,controllable). Moving to another dimension is transferring beyond the realms of levels (something you have never done before...putting yourself fully in the hands of God). Darlene McCarty
