Intimacy with God (2)

Scripture: Acts 19:23-41
"...there arose such a great disturbance about the Way." (Acts 19:23b)

Thought: The influence of Christianity in a community should not only be noticeable, it should be undeniable. When we (I) choose to live out the Gospel, things will change...and that's a GREAT thing...but some won't like it. In other words, when someone's (my) idols are threatened there will be reaction.

Personal Application: It is only when idols are let go of that God can be taken hold of. Am I treasuring anything in my heart that is crowding God out?

"Our adoration of God is not one-sided. Even as we strive to know Him better, we can thrill to the fact that He knows us intimately. We don't have to try to hide anything. We can tell Him anything. We'll never be misunderstood...he reads our emotions and interprets our silences. He just KNOWS us!"

Wow-how lucky we are to get to have Jesus for a best friend! Someone who KNOWS me better than anyone and yet still LOVES me more than anyone! Thank you God for such an AMAZING gift!!

learning that the words "sin" and "iniquity" have different meanings. sin is like the leaves on a tree, sin is the fruit of iniquity. iniquity is like the roots of the tree. its kinda like if the fruit/ leaves are bad, we need to ask God to show us the root iniquity so we can ask forgiveness for the iniquity and not only the sin. we ask forgivenes for our sins, we need to ask forgiveness for our iniquities also.

Matthew 20:1-16
v15b"...should you be jealous because I am kind to others?"
Thank goodness the Lord is kind, because I certainly don't merit it.

Awesome start to the week. Spent time preparing for middle school small group with my wife and then God allowed us to lead a group of middle schoolers that are hungry for Jesus in their lives. There is nothing more awesome than when God speaks to us through our service.

Here's the prayer from my devotional today.
"Dear Father, give me the courage to dream your dreams, to take greater risks of faith, and to not be afraid to live dangerously for your kingdom."
Good stuff!!

Timothy 2:1-4
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

God loves us more than we can understand and he wants us to not stray from the truth.

Because of Your cross my debt is paid.
Because of Your blood my sin is washed away.
All of my life I freely give.
Because of Your love, Jesus, I live.
You did it for me, You did it for love.
It's Your victory! Jesus, You are enough!

This morning I also opened my Bible to Act 19! The verses that jumped out at me were vs. 8-9, "Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God. But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way."

My reflection - We are called to speak boldly about the kingdom of God. At the same time there will be people who refuse to believe, and they will make fun of us. However, my job is to keep on testifying!

Ok...Let's try this again :-). From "Captivating" journal this morning's time with MY SAVIOR! Jeremiah 29:13 "If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me." Wow!! God wants us to want him, to seek him out, to spend time with HIM!

"The essence of Satan's deception is that we can live our lives independently of God" Nancy Leigh DeMoss. If Satan can get us to do many things "for" God without seeking the will of God thru His word, prayer and a personal relationsip with God, we can stir up alot of "religious dust" but we won't do Satan's kingdom any real damage. Apart from abiding in Him, living in constant union and dependence on Him I cannot do anything of spiritual or eternal value. I can not make it without consistent time in the Word and prayer.

Man, our GOD is aweseome! Needless to say, sometimes when you least expect it! (like in the shower). All you can do is praise HIM for his patience with us! I wonder, how long does HE have to call to us with the answer/solution until we quiet ourselves long enough to hear HIM?
"But if we hope for what is still unseen by us, we wait for it with patience and composure." Romans 8: 25

Asking the Father to cover our children with His Word. Give them the knowledge that the Bible is not a book of information, but a foundation for our transformation. Let them feel the Father's protection. Let them know their significant place in God's plan.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

I saw a young child go up to the altar, and that was inspiring to me. I told her that I would not have done that at her age for any amount of money. That memory will stay with me, when I wonder what people think of my actions.

I tried for an hour to post this last night with no luck so...I'm posting it this morning
Romans 8:26
We don't even know what to pray for or how we should pray. The Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
(I had no idea my husband was studying from the same a coincidence...or maybe not!) Never lose sight of the goodness and faithful of God.
